LA CATEDRAL por EL SALADO. Envigado (Antioquia)
Esta ruta es muy exigente por sus pendientes, pero además del reto personal incluye paisajes estupendos!
Se puede hacer desde Envigado, partiendo desde el parque principal y tomando la vía hacia el Parque El Salado (yo la hice desde la zona de Laureles, de modo que el recorrido en kms fué mayor que el que corresponde estrictamente con la trepada a La Catedral), para llegar al último roundpoint, tomar a la derecha (como devolviéndose) y realizar un corto descenso hasta "La Y" del cruce de caminos hacia La Catedral. Allí se toma a la izquierda y se inicia el ascenso, que se hace inicialmente por la orilla de una bella quebradita cristalina que es afluente de la quebrada Ayurá. De allí en adelante todo es trepada, en una ruta que es muy frecuentada por ciclistas. La trepada como tal son 9.4km con un 6.55% de pendiente promedio y un tramo de pendiente del 21% (como valor máximo). Los últimos 4.2km son al 10.86% lo cual nos dice acerca de la exigencia de "la loma". Durante el camino, hay varios puntos en los cuales se puede comprar hidratación y comida y algunos sitios que son obligados para toma de fotografías, pues son verdaderos miradores de paisaje.
El regreso, por donde subimos, de modo que hay que asegurarse de tene los frenos con buen matenimiento.

This route is very demanding due to its slopes, but in addition to personal challenge it includes wonderful landscapes!
It can be done from Envigado (a city near to Medellin), starting from the downtown and taking the road to El Salado Park (I did it from the Laureles area (at Medellin), so that the route in km was greater than the one that strictly corresponds to the climb to La Catedral), to reach the last roundpoint, turn right (as if turning back) and make a short descent to "La Y" from the crossroads to La Catedral. There you take a left and the ascent begins, which is initially made along the shore of a beautiful crystalline gulch that is a tributary of the Ayurá gorge. From then on, everything is climbed, on a route that is very frequented by cyclists. The climb as such is 9.4km with a 6.55% average slope and a 21% slope section (as a maximum value). The last 4.2km are at 10.86% which tells us about the requirement of the route. Along the way, there are several points where you can buy hydration and food and some places that are obligatory for taking pictures, as they are true viewpoints of the landscape.
The return, where we go up, so you have to make sure you have the brakes with good maintenance
