Itinerary description
The two day ride with a overnight stay at Daman is one of the most scenic routes around Kathmandu Valley. It passes through Chitlang - one of very old Newar village. You will also pass two other villages, Bajrabarahi and Bisringkhel, tucked on the Chandragiri foot hills. It approaches the Tribhuwan Highway at Chitlang and the ride all the way to Palung is easy. The following climb is quite demanding as it falls at the end of day long tour. Nevertheless, the views that starts appearing offers a great incentive for the effort.
Second day ride section from Simbhanjyang to Kulekhani Deurali goes through a desolate stretch of jeep track hidden deep inside mossy rhododendron forest, shrouded in the fogs and clouds most of the time. In spring the forest comes alive with the rhododendron blooms. Varieties of local orchid can also be spotted on the way. The ride culminates in pedalling through the Pharping - Hetauda Highway through Humane Banjyang and then to Kathmandu.
This ride is recommended for the endurance rider that are looking for a good overnight challenge.
