Itinerary description
This trip doesn't end on a specific summit, it's goal is to climb as close as possible to Kitzsteinhorn and explore the valley above Kaprun. The road is gravel, only short part near Kaprun is asphalt.
The tour starts in the centre of Kaprun at the tourist information. You can obtain there the Kaprun / Zell Am See BikeMap with the track marked on it (number 11J).
The path is not very well marked in the terrain, but with my GPS track you will find the right way without shignificant problemsh ;-).
First part is relatively steep (10% +) climb to Maiskogel station (you can get there also with Maiskogel cableway). Then the most exciting and picturesque part begins. Track descents about 200 m to 1310 m. After that it starts to climb again - we finished at 1900 m between the dam and Kitzsteinhorn cableway station (picture no 4). All the way there are open views of the valley and surrounding 2000+ m summits.
Regretfully in the middle of descent you have to climb 200 m to Maiskogelalm, and then you can get down to Kaprun.
There are some downhill tracks in the vicinity, so if you are capable enough biker, you can tak some of them on the descent. We did not.
