A long route with a gruelling unrelenting climb up to Chong Ashu Pass at 3800m. Fantastic long descent from the pass - almost certainly the best mountain biking downhill in the area. Going from 3800m surrounded by 7ft snowbanks and views of the Tian Shan mountains all the way down to the lush green Turgon-Ak-Su valley. For those that want to enjoy the descent without the climbing it's well worth organising a Jeep transfer to take you and the bikes up to the pass and then pick you up at the bridge at the bottom of the valley. (You can organise this transfer through Destination Jyrgalan Tourist Agency).
Technically it is not a difficult route. The road is generally in ok condition (relatative to Kyrgryzstan mountains, don't expect perfect tarmac). Cycling up to the pass is very difficult physically. If just doing the descent it's suitable for relatively inexperienced mountain bikers with limited fitness.
