Itinerary description
A 47 km trip from Lampikangas neighborhood, in Joutseno village (Lappeenranta) to the Fino-Russian border.
The route is easy; it passes by Joutseno's center and after the water-tower it takes an asphalt road that will change in a few kilometres into a ground road and bring you far away from the city. The route goes on asphalt and ground roads (50/50) with almost no traffic at all, so no worries about that. It passes by farmland and forests. It will lead you as close as legally possible to the country limits. You will even be able to read the yellow signs that mark the border-zone and forbid the visitors to cross.
In your way back you will pass very close to the city of Imatra and you will see a sign that indicates its direction (only four kilometres to the west). So if you want it is even possible to enlarge the route to visit Imatra without any great effort. Enjoy.
