Itinerary description
This is one of my favourite trail. The ground is a bit rough (rocks, stones, gravel,...) and the difficulty resides in the ascent (on roads). For the record, the path wont be found in any guide: I wanted to go on the other side of the antennas on the top, and studying the area on g-earth I realized that a junction might be possible...following goats path, and I did it without too many difficulties. Worth to note, I had this time special anti-flat tyres that saved my day.
The trip begins from Ierapetra going the way up to Meseleoi and beyond, circling around it to finally reach the big communication antennas. It is from there that I went left following goat paths through the thorny bush. After a few hundred meters, a dirt road becomes visible and allows for a standard MTB track through the marvellous landscape, eventually reaching an abandoned village in the middle of nowhere. It is quite long, with at the end a view on the Ha gorges before the final descent towards Kato Choria.
I'll do it again.
