Itinerary description
This relatively short and technically easy trail leads you into the true Grengewald, namely the former Grand-Duke's hunting ground, which has been opened recently for the public. This forest is a very deep, dark and romantic wood, and could have served to shoot the Lord of the Rings... (I'm exaggerating only a little bit). The truth is that it's an ancient forest with some open and some very dark parts, and you only see a tiny bit of it while staying on the track. If you however leave the track, you risk bumping into the fence "d'gatter" which is still very much in place. (The hunting ground used to be closed with a big fence). At the "turn left" waypoint, while starting, turn left into the forest and when coming back, turn left and go back to the parking. There is one place ("crossing") where the track crosses itself. Just go straight. Enjoy.

After a first try in the Grengwald 1, this morning was the Grengwald 2 : deep inside the Gatter, rain, maximum humidity and fog! The game was funny! Nice atmosphear, infortunately we didn't find the ring, but we enjoyed it a lot. No way to have break with this cold weather..
We began from Bereldange, following the "Domeldange_Mersch via la Rochette" track, and we caught the Grengwald 1, good job!!
This is a trail to advise to discover the heart of this authentic forest. Thanks ferdy
Great job done ferd! I have driven several forests in Europe, but this one by far the nicest! Really nice trail, visely chosen. Please do more of them like this, technically not demanding, just cross-country drive. Martin
