Itinerary description
An excellent route. According to our notes we rode it twice in 2010 (without helmets), but it’s so far beyond what we were capable of at the time that we can’t imagine what we did. At any rate, the climb is like all other climbs, but the descent is better than most descents, offering a generous sprinkling of technical challenges at around S2 Level, as well as some much harder.
The high point (topographically) is the dolmen, an optional detour from the circular tour, but why would you pass it by?
The terrain in descent is initially a little loose and disagreeable, but it soon consolidates into attractive obstacles. When you have passed them the gradient eases off and the mountain bike route diverges from the GR10 footpath. It joins a road and then leaves it for a footpath which drops steeply into Arles.
