Itinerary description

The route starts at the Ecopista de Corgo at the abandoned Vila Real train station and follows the former railway track for a while before turning into the mountains. You will pass by plenty of wine fields and remote villages. Approaching the Douro river, you can enjoy the fantastic panorama when descending down to Pinhao.

This adventurous tour is physically demanding, with many steep ascents and descents as well as remote rocky roads. Take a proper MTB, or choose an alternative route along the national road instead.

This is day 3 of a multiple day bikepacking trip which is highly recommended to do if you're an outdoor lover. You can rent a bike in Porto and take it on the bus to Vidago, or even to Chaves, if you fancy doing a longer trip.
