Itinerary description
From Fort William past Neptune’s Staircase along the canal. When you reach Gairlochy: take the road to the right and follow it to Spean Bridge. (A nice place for a break! We can recommend a “soup and sandwich combo” at the Old Station House restaurant!)
From the station: cross the bridge up to the parking lot at the golf club. Keep left, up in the forest. Go up on the trail (gravel) and turn right when at T. Follow the trail and gravel roads back to Fort William, passing the Bike Park at Nevis Range.
We took the brown (or was it blue?) trail up to the looong “Puggy Line” all the way back to FW. (Keep going when Puggyline makes a sharp right at the end!)
All and all a nice loop, not very technical but a bit demanding regarding some of the climbs.
Rented hard tail MTBs at Off Beat Bikes, who recommend the route and provided us with a map.
