Itinerary description

Start at the church in Atotonilco. Park in town. The first little bit of riding is on the road, but you quickly veer off onto packed dirt/gravel roads. The first bit is quite bumpy until you get to the area of the trail that has trees growing on both sides creating a túnel-like feel. From then on it’s great! The bridge is definitely a highlight. The height of the bridge isn’t captured here....it’s definitely a bit scary. If you have any riders that aren’t confident, walk across. You can also stop and explore around the bridge. In the dry season you can walk all around. In the wet season, it will have water running under from the Rio Laja. You can keep following this path further than we went and apparently all the way to Dolores Hidalgo! We had tired riders among us, so we turned back. Group included 3 11-yr olds and 4 adults.

Just off the main trail, you can visit this chapel. A tree has grown up through and on top of the chapel! Paintings on the interior have survived.

Old railroad trail and bridge now for bikes, pedestrians, motos, etc.... Don’t underestimate the height! This is way high up, but the tree tops looks like surrounding shrubbery! You can walk or ride across! A little scary. Check it out first if riding with kids. The wood slats are not smooth and you may feel bounced around by the ups and downs and holes.

Gracias por la descripción es de mucha ayuda.... Estoy buscando un recorrido para hacer un cicloturismo con un grupo y ese puente y Atotonilco parecen muy atractivos.
