DCRVBB-21-TOURS-ROUTE DE LA LOIRE-FROM AMBOISE TO SAVONNIERES
Length: 48 km BIKE: Touring Acummulated elevation: 199 m.
Route that follows part of the Route de la Loire in France. Exactly it goes from Amboise to Savonniers, crossing Tours.
DESCRIPTION
After crossing Amboise, whith it's impressive castle, we ride along secondary paved roads among vineyards. Very pleasant and quite way with smooth hills and beautiful landscapes. We arrive at Montluis sur Loire, where there is a path on the cliff over the river, with excellent views. After visiting the center of Montlouis, the route goes down and next to the river along many interesting kilometers.
Inside Tours we visit the Cathedral, very interesting, and some main streets. After crossing all the village we arrive at river over the Cher, and passed it, we round lake Bergeneronnerie. Very pleasant.
After it, we head to the Cher border and we take the bike path which is paved, which lead to Savonniers, with many interesting views of the river.
POINTS OF INTEREST
- Chateaux Amboise.
- Montluis and it's historical center and views to the Loire.
- Tours and its Cathedral.
- Bergeneronnerie lake.
DIFFICULTIES
Very flat route only a bit hilly in the first part of the vineyards. Almost all paved with bike lanes segregated of the traffic or secondary roads. Only a bit difficult to cross Tours, because we found jobs for the Tram.
