Incredible route that starts from the Nawatef camp very close to Dana and ends at the very doors of Little Petra in Wadi Musa. You have to organize the logistics because it is not circular but although the route is about 60km, the starting point and the point of arrival are just over 35 minutes by car on a little-traveled road for the most part. As I say the tour begins in the camp of the sympathetic Ali Nawatef (15 dinars dinner + bed + breakfast !!!) very close to the town of Dana, a place to visit for the spectacular views of the Rift Valley (Rift Valley) towards the low and desert lands of Wadi Araba and the particularity of the town with its half-demolished stone houses. The whole area is famous for the sighting of birds and their archaeological sites. It is worth spending more than a walk. What we did was to leave Amán at 2 o'clock to get light to the camp and to be able to visit Dana and its surroundings in the afternoon. However, from the camp itself, the views are spectacular. There are about 4 hours of pedaling, which together with the obligatory stops to enjoy the tour and rest will take about 6-7 hours in total, so you have to leave early to take advantage of the light, especially in winter. In any case the best time is spring since the heat does not press too much. The first 15km are by road until you reach Shobak Castle, the last place where you can buy something to drink and eat. Do not forget that we will pedal at a considerable altitude, between 1,000 and 1,500 meters, so the temperature may be lower than expected. As I say from km 15 to the end we do not cross any population so you have to go well supplied with water and food. Do not leave your camera either because the landscape is one of the most beautiful in Jordan. The route ends at the entrance to Little Petra, which, although not as spectacular as its big sister, is worth visiting. Also they will not make us pay the 50 dinars of Petra !!
