Itinerary description
Cycling - Monte Forno (Italian), Ofen (Austrian), and Pec (Slovenian) are the names of the point where the three borders meet.
The point is marked by a white stone but a fancy symbol has been erected nearby with wooden shingles and signs pointing in three directions.
There are several ways up. We climbed on the Austrian side on forest gravel roads with decent terrain. The descent on the Italian side isn't cyclable for the first part due to erosion.
Dark clouds gathering prompted trying to descend as quick as possible. At least we were caught in a severe thunderstorm at low elevation in the forest but soon found a safe spot under a low bridge. Couldn't stand, which meant crouching for more than one hour - water running under out feet - until it passed, but that is better than being exposed to hail.
We don't mind rain but lightning, well, yes.
