Itinerary description
Cycling - MTB loop from Marmora, 1,500 m (4,920 ft) total climb.
Trip summary:
- 18 Km climb on decently paved road to Colle Della Fauniera (elevation 2,480 m) marked by a monument to Marco Pantani
- 15 Km on an old military unpaved road allows to enjoy the full beauty of this majestic setting from all angles through small ups-and-downs. The road is open to motorized traffic in summer months, except for weekends. Traffic is anyway scarce as the rocky surface is quite rough in some points
- Rifugio Gardetta is a pleasant stop for drinks/food/accommodation (check for availability at www.rifugiogardetta.it)
- Descent on paved road (after Colle del Preit)
The Gardetta Plateau (Altopiano della Gardetta) is a breathtaking area of natural and geological interest above the tree line.
Rated "difficult" only due to the total elevation gain requiring adequate fitness/training.
No technical difficulties or riding skills required.
