Itinerary description
Cycling - Colle delle Finestre.
Up and back from Meana di Susa as I didn't have sufficient time on my side to start from Susa. Parking at a pic-nic site - see waypoint. No other option along the one-lane road, or else, start from Susa.
The road connects the Susa and the Chisone valleys, therefore the pass at 2176m of elevation can be reached from both sides. Going up from the Susa Valley is harder and a classic epic climb of the Giro d'Italia. Average gradient is 10%.
The last 8 Km are unpaved and, pity, the terrain isn't as good as it was years ago. Reason is that the road is, aside from cyclists, notorious among motorcyclists. Some of them can't control their wrist and enjoy slamming the throttle causing ruts, ripples, and loose rocks. Almost zero traffic on workdays.
Drinking water spot at the pass.
