Itinerary description
Cycling - Loop to Charey, Champlong Lakes and Champlong Pass, on to Lake Lod and the quaint pedestrian village of Chamois, and down.
Free parking in the hamlet of Challien. Those willing to save some climb may park at La Magdeleine.
This ride develops in Valtournenche, Aosta Valley, at the very end of which lies the majestic Cervino (Matterhorn). Gorgeous day up there although His Majesty remained wrapped in clouds. The place isn't anyway short of breathtaking panoramas in every direction.
Several small glacial lakes along the way in a pristine environment. High-altitude Alpine pastures and grazing cows.
Paved up to La Magdeleine, then mostly single lane service roads. Some steep sections require dismounting and pushing due to poor traction on loose rocks. No technical descent difficulties.
A very enjoyable overall ride.
