Itinerary description

This is a fairly simple section of the Central Otago Rail Trail. Lovely scenery. A wide and excellent trail surface. The climb is a very steady one that is more difficult than it seems. Most of the cyclists are on ebikes so on an acoustic bike we were quite surprised by how much of a slog it was in the last section into Lauder. Almost no shade and the summer sun is punishing in the afternoon. There is a surprise art show under an overpass that was lovely and shady!
