Itinerary description
A bike trip along the Cataraqui Trail from Sydenham to hwy 15 and back again. There is a parking lot in Sydenham at the start/finish.
I was looking to see what the trail was like heading north west from Sydenham and was not disappointed. The trail was in good shape with some signage and even some mileage marking posts. You'll see lots of lakes, wetlands, forests and rock outcroppings. I saw a lot of wildlife on my trip including turtles, snakes, ducks, loons, geese, deer, squirrels, chipmunks, a broad array of birds (including a blue heron) as well as a fox, a racoon and a porcupine.
Elevation changes were not dramatic (an old railway line) and road crossings were easy. Suitable for a bike, hiking on the flat going straight ahead might get a bit tedious. Make sure you dismount to check out some of the interesting sites along the way!
