Itinerary description
We started at the Carrick winery and headed to the Lake Dunstan Trail. We were warned of brutal winds on this route so we set off early. Winds got crazy strong by early afternoon but they were, luckily, coming from behind us. There are a couple of challenging climbs after the coffee and burger float but they were well designed with switchbacks which made them quite manageable. The most challenging part is the oncoming cyclists coming from Clyde. The trail does attract bikers of all abilities so we had to be very mindful of passing on the narrow and blind sections. A stunner of a route that won't disappoint but not for the squeamish.
