Itinerary description
11,000- foot (3300-meter) descent from the snow into the jungle! Get on a bus to Coroico at the Minasa Bus Station with your bikes on the roof. Tell the driver that you would like to get off at "La Cumbre". Some 30 or 40 minutes into the drive you will get off the bus and begin your descent at the highest point on the highway to Coroico. You fly down the paved highway until reaching the Old Highway to Yungas, also infamously known as the "Death Road". Get off the pavement and onto the dirt road. Stay to your left and DON'T take a right at Chuspipata, the village right towards the beginning of the dirt road. Follow the dirt road until arriving at Yolosa. From Yolosa it's tough to find transport, but if you continue to the next village (Yolosita) you should be able to find busses that can take you and your bikes to Coroico or La Paz.
You can also just hire a tour with a guide from the many tourist offices in the Sagarnada area. This is basically the exact same thing as the highly toted Death Road experience.
