The title says it all: wonderful setting. We start from the Sečovlje salt pans to enter the Dragonja valley which runs along the Croatian border located on the hills to the south. Just recently the itinerary is practicable by crossing into Croatia without the thought of finding the police. At a certain point you cross the Dragogna river near an old mill, accessible with low water. From the ford you continue on a dirt road with a couple of ramps, a long traverse on a slight slope and then through very challenging bends you reach the Bric winery which represents the main objective of the tour. From this, a few hundred meters away is the border, where a further climb takes us to Bric, a town with a 360 degree view of the sea and the Istrian hinterland. On the road to the village of Oskurus, turn right towards the cemetery which is followed by a safe dirt road but with a sheer view of the valley traveled in the first part. The last gem is the town of Momiano, which can be reached via other asphalted ramps, but with a couple of excellent trattorias. In the center near the church there is an alley leading to the castle. You return along roads that aren't too busy near the town of Castel, then towards Umag, taking a detour along an alley that leads to the Sečovlje border and then to your destination. Gorgeous landscape!
NOTE: the Dragonja ford is often practicable, except after periods of heavy rain, also for this reason I recommend going clockwise, in addition to the surprise of arriving at Bric.
