Itinerary description

Bike loop around the area and surrounding hills between Veneto and Lombardia, mainly done on secondary roads, the first interesting area is around Massimbona where there are many trees and plants allover, millions of years ago this area was covered by water, now the Mincio river is divided in two, one is the artificial canal going to Marengo (where the bike path Peschiera Mantova is passing by) and the other is the natural Mincio river that goes to Goito, where we went to visit, after that we stopped quickly in a farm shop (dairy products and local meat products), we took the direction to Volta Mantovana where we went up to the higher viewpoint to see the castle and the main cathedral which is where those are located.
After we went to Castellaro Lagusello, a tiny cute village well known for the castle and the little lake next to it, we had a quick break with a typical local bread called Fugasì, then we went on till Peschiera between hills covered mainly by wine yards (local wine is Lugana); arrived in Peschiera we had to struggle to find a place to eat something for lunch (due to Covid restrictions) but then we find a take away and we had our nice quiet lunch sitting on a public bench with the lake in front of us.
The way back was through the Mincio River bike path, passing next to Borghetto, crossing Valeggio and all the way till the starting point. So far a nice positive day we’ll go again for sure 😊
