Itinerary description

This track takes you through various neighbourhoods of Makao. It starts at the North end of the so-called "Third bridge".

As much as possible, this tracks avoid the bigger roads, except for the last few kilometers.

As a lot of it is on dirt roads with plenty of rocks etc, it's only suitable for mountain bikes. But there is not that much incline or decline.

As it zigzags through the neighbourhoods, you can frequently take a road on the left or the right of the trail, but it may sometimes backfires, so keep an eye on the GPS during the trail.

On the most Northern part of the track you will briefly leave Bamako, but the houses are never far away. However, that was the part that enjoyed the most.

As you get back in town, it gets more and more busy. When you get to the 1st bridge, it's usually quite crowded.

After crossing the bridge, you will take a right turn soon and zigzag through the houses again on various dirt roads, making your way towards the Tour de Afrique.

From there you will take a few more dirt roads that will bring you past the stadium. From there it's the main road back over the bridge back in to Sotuba.

Along the way there are plenty of places where you can buy something to drink (and snack), so you don't need to bring much with you.

I would recommend to bring your tube repair kit as you may get a flat like I did.
