Itinerary description

If I have ever had to spend hours in front of the screen noticing routes, roads, rivers, lakes, mountains, paths and endless points to consult tracks and configure your own in a territory far from the usual place, it has been during the I knew that I was really going to cross the big puddle, with the priority of getting to know my first grandchild, spending a few days with my son and daughter-in-law, and of course, trying to cross those mountains below the Appalachian Trail, which has a length of 3,500 km. It spans the Springer Mountain in the state of Georgia and Mount Katahdin in Maine. It also passes through the states of North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont and New Hampshire. In Canada, it connects with the Appalachian International Trail, whose length is 3,100 km, which links Mount Katahdin and the Belle Isle Strait (north of Terra Nova) on the Atlantic coast.
The maintenance of the trail is done by some thirty hiking clubs and numerous associated companies. It is managed by the National Park Service and the Appalachian Trail Conservancy. The Appalachian Trail (AT) is well known in the United States and Canada. Many American hikers dream of touring the OT in its entirety at one time. Those who achieve it - very few - are considered great sports figures. They are called thru-hikers.

The path was created by Benton MacKaye (en), a forest engineer who, in 1921, conceived a grand tour that would unite, for the inhabitants of large cities, a series of farms, work camps and study of wild nature .

Arrived the day of the march and after placing the traced on the GPS, I leave my house with all the enthusiasm and possible motivation that give fully recharged batteries for the adventure, after the odyssey of 20 hours of travel "a Friday at 5:30 am I start to arrive on Saturday at 1:00 "between Car, Ave, Metro, Aircraft, I arrive in Charlotte where my wife and son await me, only three more hours to reach the destination of Johnson City . At night I was not going to see what I expected in successive days, but between the two of them they put their long teeth on the basis of mountainous commentaries in the area, which only left to wait for at dawn.
And so it was the morning wake up, pleasant and willing to go what it takes, starting by opening the window and see a view full of color and seasoned with a lake just 200 meters from the door, the first thing that comes to thought is, this starts from fable! knowing the first-born Hugo of the first-born Carlos, surrounded by the family in this case the fair one, in an environment that promises and a lot.

The first step was to know the proximity of the habitat from the residence, with what a walk around until reaching the closest Park, the Winged Deer Park being the first contact with the bike and the trails and path. After three days I began to realize that everything saved in the gps, little was going to be what I traveled, only the personal challenge of Buffalo Mountain Park , as it was a layout cooked on a continent to carry it out in other. More after talking with my son about the possibilities of touring the different parks in the area, WARRIOS PARK , BAYS MOUNTAIN PARK AND DUPONT PISGAH FOREST .

And so the different adventures were falling for this enthusiastic nature lover route, every day spent in these places, everything was to give thanks to my son for having had the opportunity to know these andurriales, it will hardly erase me the five days of mtb in those that my eyes, bones and mind have enjoyed 100%, this route being the one that has tricked me to the point of recognizing that they have been the best kilometers of mtb made to date.
