Itinerary description

The mountain biking trail of Armaghan is located in Gegharkunik province. This trail starts from Martuni town to the village of Lernahovit M10. Then you drive towards the village of Madina till the end, continue driving along the highway towards Mount Armaghan direction. The road to Armaghan is immensely beautiful and full of expectations when reaching the lake and the St. Harutyun church on the summit. Monuments description:
The height of Mount Armaghan is 2829 meters. On the top there is a small lake with a diameter of 50 m and a depth of 1.5 m. The peak is in Geghama mountain range, in the territory of Verin Getashen community, 20 km from Martuni. At the peak there is a volcanic crater, which is partly filled with water. The small lake is surrounded by alpine veal. In 2009, on top of the old chapel, a gigantic, basalt, domed church was built. According to tradition, sometimes the heavenly fairies descended to drink a water from the lake and in order to stay invisible to people they were covering the peak with a fog.

Flora
Gegharkunik province is the largest marz in Armenia. Around 1/4 of the whole area occupies the Lake Sevan. The surrounding area of the lake is fully covered with coniferous forests. Herbs are dominated by mountainous, subalpine and alpine herbs. The forest foliage is not very rich, there are few oaks, jungle and some other types of spruce trees in the north-eastern slopes. The artificial forestry areas have been grown as a result of the areas caused by lowering of the lake level.
The lowest point is the Getik River Canyon (1325 m), the highest point - the peak of Mount Azhdahak (3598 m). The high mountains are Spitakasar (3555 m), Vardenis (3522 m) and Genghisar (3446 m). The longest rivers are Argichi (51 km), Gavaraget (47 km) and Masrik (45 km), there are crater lakes, Azhdahak and Armaghagh (up to 50 m in diameter and 15 m deep). There are many volcanic rocks in the area, from which Armaghan and Azhdahak are known, and in which the same lakes are located in the crater. Main mountain ranges are Geghama, Areguni, Sevan, Eastern Sevan, Vardenis. The climate is temperate mountainous with cold winters, stable snow cover -5˚-10˚. The summers are warm and sunny with + 18˚ + 20˚.

Fauna
"Sevan National Park" (formed in 1978) is located in the territory of the marz. It occupies the Sevan lake and its sediments, which form the bottom of the Sevan coastal zone. There are 330 types of animals here. In the lake there are endemic fish such as Beghlu, Koghak, Barbus goktschaicus, Ishkhan.
