Itinerary description
26km trail not 43 ! I forgot to turn off the recording when we got back to the parking, and it kept running until Cortina.
Great trail going around the beautiful Tre Cime. Starting at the lake you have 8km of asfalt which is pretty dull, but the scenery is beautiful.
Then arriving at the Rifugio di Auronzo, this is where the gravel fun begins, with a first part being pretty wide and easy going with a lot of hikers.
Arriving at the highest point right under the Tre Cime at 2433m, we continued on a hiking trail where bicycles are forbidden. Go at your own risk and responsibility. We saw a few bikers so we weren’t alone in that.
This part is where it gets difficult. Narrow single track with sharp rocks. We went a bit around going right under the Dreizinnen Hütte and back around the Tre Cime. It’s mostly downhill but because we went further North, we had some uphill parts.
There’s a reason bikers are not popular there, because some parts are super technical and very steep, where you will need to walk your bike.
No need to carry the bike, but keep in mind that it’s a hikers trail, so getting through there with a bike might cost you some effort and nerves !
Then once around the Tre Cime, the trail gets more mellow with magnificent vistas all around and going back to the Rifugio di Auronzo.
The last part is back on the asfalt, but there are a few parts where you can cut through the woods if you wish so. I was able to reach 80kph on the asfalt, so this will be the quickest part of all !
Enjoy !
