Vall de la Gallinera y sierras de Grossa y de Mariola // Gallinera Valley and Sierras Grossa and Mariola

Rutas 149 y 150 (parcial). Sierra Grossa y de Mariola y Valle de Gallinera

Entre las poblaciones de Pego y Muro de Alcoy no hay ningún auténtico puerto de montaña, pero el recorrido por el valle de Gallinera exige bastante atención, al menos en los frecuentes tramos tan angostos que no permiten el cruce de dos vehículos

El tramo que sale de Muro de Alcoy hacia el Oeste forma parte de las rutas clásicas de la zona. Estrecha pero bien asfaltada, discurre a los pies de la agreste sierra de Mariola. El trazado es un serpentín que hace que la moto parezca un péndulo mientras se supera una curva tras otra. El trayecto final que llega a Fuente de la Higuera cruza el formidable barranco de los Naranjos, que domina un sector de la ruta. El resto, de aspereza granítica, se abre paso a duras penas por estrechos que encauzan riachuelos. La carretera está en buen estado, óptimo incluso entre Bocairente y Onteniente, pero hay que calibrar cómo toma cada curva

Mi opinión

Comienzo esta ruta un 19 de julio a las ocho de la mañana, con 22 grados de temperatura y la acabo horas más tarde (ida y vuelta) a 31. Una delicia pero me quedo con el fresco de la mañana. Esta ruta es para hacerla despacio y recordar cada curva cuando dentro de unos meses tengamos que conducir con frío y lluvia. El asfalto está en muy buen estado y no hay demasiado tráfico

La ruta no tiene grandes pendientes pero es una carretera muy virada, aunque sin curvas de herradura cerradas. Prácticamente casi no hay ningún tramo recto largo

El entorno es muy natural, con cauces secos de ríos, riachuelos, pinos y olivos. Esta es la zona de la cereza de Alicante. Se puede comprar en varios lugares

En la ruta de vuelta, donde se indica el WPT Desvío 1 // Detour 1, hay una desviación a un camino secundario por el Paraje Natural del Barranco de la Encantada. Discurre a menor altitud que la carretera principal y nos lleva por una pista de cemento, estrecha pero no muy curvada

Yo diría que es muy recomendable

Between the towns of Pego and Muro de Alcoy there is no real mountain pass, but the route through the Gallinera Valley requires a lot of attention, at least in the often very narrow stretches that do not allow two vehicles to cross

The section leaving Muro de Alcoy to the west is one of the classic routes in the area. Narrow but well paved, it runs at the foot of the rugged Sierra de Mariola. The route is a serpentine that makes the motorbike look like a pendulum while overcoming one curve after another. The final stretch that reaches Fuente de la Higuera crosses the formidable ravine of the Naranjos, which dominates a sector of the route. The rest, of granite ruggedness, makes its way with difficulty through narrow passes that channel streams. The road is in good condition, even optimum between Bocairente and Onteniente, but you have to calibrate how you take each curve

My opinion

I start this route on July 19 at eight in the morning, with a temperature of 22 degrees and I finish it hours later (round trip) at 31. A delight but I prefer the coolness of the morning. This route is to be done it slowly and to remember every curve when in a few months, we will have to drive in the cold and rain. The asphalt is in very good condition and there is not too much traffic

The route is not very steep but it is a very twisty road, although without sharp hairpin bends. There are almost no long straight stretches

The environment is very natural, with dry riverbeds, streams, pines and olive trees. This is the area of the cherry of Alicante. It can be bought in several places

On the return route, where WPT Detour 1 // Detour 1 is indicated, there is a detour to a secondary road through the Enchanted gorge Natural Site. It runs at a lower altitude than the main road and takes us on a concrete track, narrow but not very curved

I would say it is highly recommended
