Itinerary description

From the book "The best roads to travel by motorcycle. Spain and Portugal", by Pedro Pardo (Publisher geoPlaneta Nómadas):

Route 92. Abodi mountain range

The stretch that connects Burguete with Ochagavía is well known by French motorcyclists, who love its fun twists and turns. At the foot of the pre-Pyrenean mountain range of Abodi, the route twists in frequent bends between tight masses of beech and pine trees; a mountain road that appears not to be one, as it is so easy to ride on it. Three modest mountain passes are lined up, the most prominent being the Abaurrea pass (1012 m)

The road enters France via the Larrau pass (1573 m), a former border post that now simply separates two very different landscapes: the valleys of Béarn are deep crevices almost always in the shade, unlike the luminous valleys of Navarra (1573 m)

My opinion

I rode this route in a north-south direction, from France to Spain. I started the ascent to the Larrau pass after a light rain that had made everything greener than usual. With the appropriate care, I made my way up the pass, curve after curve, until I reached the top and discovered that, as the author of the book says, the valleys of Navarre are wide and luminous. Even so, the ascent to the Larrau pass from France is memorable, tremendously green and, on this occasion, with low clouds covering the valleys

The trail was lovely. However, when I arrived at the top I was surprised to see that the road was closed...
