Itinerary description
Motorcycling - The Assietta Road seems to be quite popular among Germans, as all riders I've met along the road were just Germans. Beautiful high road which, along the Colle delle Finestre, is best enjoyed when the weather allows for amazing landscapes to be seen. I have otherwise experienced clouds and a bit of rain, but today it was the only feasible day to try the route for my friend Orestis visiting from Greece. We were later caught in a decent thunderstorm but at least this happened after we reached Sestriere, therefore no complaints.
Great ride, although not suitable for street bikes due to the harsh terrain (gravel and rocks). Street bikes can anyway enjoy the Colle delle Finestre as the unpaved section is very compact, solid and generally well maintained.
I've also done this high road by mountain bike and it's an equally rewarding experience.
