The Czech Republic has surprised me for its quality and cost of living, for the quality of the food, for the beauty of its cities, the friendliness of its citizens, for its good roads, the quality of its BEER (extraordinary) and the low prices. But here I'm not going to stay, we have to continue ...

I am on my way to Switzerland via Germany - Austria and from the Kristian Hotel, I only need a little more than fifteen kilometers to enter this country, with my eyes on the beautiful city of Passau.

Passau is a city in Lower Bavaria, Bavaria, on the border with Austria, where the Danube, Eno and Ilz rivers converge. It is called "the city of three rivers" and at a certain point of confluence you can see even the changing color of the three water courses.

The city has a population of just over 50,000 inhabitants in 2007 and is divided into three parts: the Altstadt ("old city", on the peninsula formed by the Danube and Eno rivers), the Innstadt ("city on the banks of the Eno") , Inn in German) and the Ilzstadt ("city on the banks of the Ilz").

Not only do its rivers make Passau a special city, Humboldt mentioned it as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.

In the first half of the eleventh century, the city gained prestige by producing the strongest swords and armaments in Germany. He had competition only in the distant city of Solingen.

Passau is also the birthplace of Ausbund, the oldest Protestant book of songs still used today by the Amish. This book was created between 1535 and 1540 by the so-called Baptists who were imprisoned in the fortress of the city and who after their death were considered martyrs.

In 1662 the whole city was destroyed by a great fire. Later it was rebuilt by Italian architects who printed a Baroque style. Passau preserves, therefore, a Mediterranean atmosphere, distinguishing itself from the other cities of the region by the style of its buildings, which stand out amid the green hills and lush landscapes.

Since 1803 and as a result of the Napoleonic Wars, the city belongs to Bavaria.

Due to the proximity to the three rivers, Passau has suffered several major floods. One of the worst was recorded in 1954. Also in 2002, Passau was again a victim of the floods.

Passau is called the city of the three rivers, since Eno flows here, whose waters come from the Alps and are green, the Danube, with blue water, and the Ilz, whose water comes from a swampy area. . In the place where the rivers come together, the color difference of them becomes more noticeable and even curious.

I enter Passau bordering the Ilz River and before the union with the Danube, I cross the bridge to skirt the Danube by its left margin and pass over it on the first bridge I find and continue until the Eno passes. Tourist boats and cargo barges ply their waters.

Like all of them, this city deserved more dedication and time, but I am already in Austria towards another city gem: Salzburg, but before arriving in Eugendorf, I visited the boutique store - Motorrad.

The beauty of Salzburg is not going to be discovered now, but I did discover a slow and chaotic circulation and to make matters worse it was suffocating heat. Salzburg (in German: Salzburg About this sound / zalt͡sbʊɐ̯k / (? · I), 'city / castle [of the] salt') is the fourth most populous city in Austria, with 150,269 inhabitants (2012), capital of the federal state (Bundesland) of Salzburg and the homonymous region, one of the nine in which this country is divided. Its name comes from the boats that transported salt in the 8th century and that had to pay a tax, very common use in many rivers in Europe. It is world famous for being the hometown of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and for the music festivals that are held every summer in the town. In the vicinity of Salzburg are the headquarters and the Red Bull factory. Salzburg is 150 km east of Munich, Germany, and 300 km west of Vienna. The city stretches along both banks of the Salzach River, 25 km from the northern foothills of the Alps. The mountainous character of the southern part of the Salzburg region contrasts with the gentle undulations of its northern part. The closest alpine peak is the Untersberg (1,853 m), which is only a few kilometers southwest of the city. The center of the city is surrounded by two stone elevations, the Mönchsberg and the Kapuzinerberg, whose forests constitute the green lung of the city.

On highway 178, through immense green meadows and purely alpine images of incredible beauty, on the way to Lofer, the Austrian Tyrol gate on the way to other BIG ones **** the GROSSGLOCKNER (Paid road) the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe viewpoint from which we will observe the Großglockner of 3798 m. the Pasterze Glacier at your feet and later the Gerlos.

Path of Lofer, although weakly, it starts to rain (I thought that I had gotten rid of this plague). For the hour that it is I have to look for where the night happened, but I continue advancing until Ferleiten, the entrance door (and toll) to the Grobglockner by a valley of exceptional beauty. The snowy peaks and torrents of water everywhere flood the Valley.

In Ferleiten I can not find accommodation. I go back to Hirzbachalm and at the Hotel Lampenhausl I find shelter while it continues to rain ....
