From the Nest, the most tourist area of Palawan Island and possibly of all the Philippine Islands, several tours (called Island Hopping) are organized to visit the surrounding archipelagos. Without a doubt, Bacuit is one of the most spectacular and photogenic in the area. There are four standard tours (although some more private can be done, which are much more expensive). Normally the A is the one that includes more things and the others that follow it are complementary and usually include different things. As we had done the A the previous day, we opted now to make the C, which we found the most interesting ..... and did not disappoint us at all.
We leave from Playa del Nido, where all catamarans are docked. First we approach the beach of Helicopter Island or Dilumacad, a good start for both bathing and snorkeling. The beach is very nice.
The next stop is to visit Lake Cadlao. It can be done by kayaking or swimming-walking. I recommend the second option (which is what we did) since it is a short tour and you save paying the supplement for the kayak rental (not included in the tour). The place is really very beautiful despite the overcrowding.
The next objective is the Tapiutan Strait, between the homonymous island and the neighboring island of Matinloc. The strait is impressive and the place where we stop to eat is simply unique. They basically prepare fish and fruit and vegetables.
Then we continue sailing through the strait to approach the Secret Beach, completely hidden behind an underwater arch, which you have to swim to access this incredible place. It is certainly a beach completely hidden behind the hole that makes the mountain. I climb a rock (entertained by how abrasive it is and by going barefoot) to get better views.
The last visit of the day is the amazing Hidden Beach (Playa Escondida), without a doubt a good climax to which we arrived swimming-walking. It can be accessed by an arc-crack or by the most obvious strait. Anyway (I did it for both places) the beach is a corner that will not let us down. The pity is that in the afternoon it is completely in shadow.
In short it is a very attractive and complete tour. Despite the overcrowding at the stops, it is well worth it.
We had a magnificent sunny day that intensified the dark blue color of the sea.
