west Al Kazan with its 5000 inhabitants, is the last remaining Nubian village standing. According to what the guide told us, there were about 40 Nubian villages (the ethnic group that inhabited this area), but with the Aswan dam almost all of them were flooded and their inhabitants dispersed and inhabited other places. They encouraged us to visit it and the truth is that it is beautiful and interesting, although things like having a pet crocodile can cause people to talk. The mosque, the school, the walk through its souk, the visit to the crocodile and the motorcar ride up to the viewpoint add up to a beautiful excursion to which is added the possibility of riding a camel or bathing in the Nile...
