The Great Barrier Reef of Australia, is the largest coral reef in the world. It extends over about 2600 kilometers in length and can be distinguished from space. Of all this immensity in a day can see a bit. First approaching in a boat, until the moment in the high seas some waves tell us that we have reached the reef. Underneath a world of coral extends to our feet. The observation areas are bounded, and in some cases even platforms have been installed. Let's think that it is an ecosystem with a high degree of protection. However, it is from the air where it can be perceived in all its greatness. On clear days, the shades of blues are infinite, and some white sand beaches stand out in this reef universe.
The Great Barrier Reef is sometimes mentioned as the largest living animal in the world. In reality, it consists of the millenarian accumulation of many skeletons of coral colonies. On these structures, which extend for kilometers, one of the greatest concentrations of biodiversity on the planet is agglutinated.
The companies that organize tours from Cairns are numerous. We recommend cairns- unlimited, governed by María, a Spanish resident in the area.
