Itinerary description

The third day of a 5 day canoe trip through Algonquin Park from Whitney to Cache Lake. This day had two portages, the first at 320 meters and the second one into Lake Louisa is a long one at 1725 meters with the highest elevation coming early. Starting at Welcome lake you head to a river at the north end and wind your way into Harry's Lake. Follow the southern shoreline to find the river that leads into Rence Lake. You are only on Rence Lake for a few minutes then head north up the river towards Frank Lake. You will hit your first portage (320 meters) before you get to Franks Lake. Paddle north through a channel to Florence Lake, head west (to your left) and look for the portage into Louisa.

Louisa is a big Lake and can be windy. It is also a popular one with a lot of campsites (20?) and campers. We found a nice site on an island (2 sites were on the same island). We arrived early in the afternoon and while we planned to explore the lake later in the day some rain and strong winds changed our minds.

Tomorrow's trip is: Louisa to Head Lake
