Itinerary description

Winter paddle on the Potomac River to see the Capitol from the water. Gravelly Point Park is a free launch ramp with bathrooms that is right across from Reagan National Airport. The planes literally fly right overhead to land. Great blue herons and kingfishers were out in force. This is a great way to see the sights. There are tons of bridges in this area that you pass under, from modern multi-lane spans to old wooden footpaths. Next time we'll try to get a bit of the C&O Canal in as well.
