Note: Due to the geomorphology of the terrain, the GPS track seems confusing, with continuous coverage losses, so only the return leg has been taken into account, that is, only the final half of the track. In this way the correct data are:
Distance: 4 Km
Tam Coc is a natural place that is located in the province of Ninh Binh, a couple of hours south of Hanoi. Also known as the "Halong Terrestrial Bay", it shares with it the existence of huge blocks of karstic stone that although in Halong Bay we see them rise up in the sea, in Tam Coc they suddenly appear among the rice fields. Tam Coc is a landscape of extraordinary beauty sculpted by the Ngo Dong River that runs between green rice fields, surrounded by caves and rock formations covered with vegetation.
Note: Due to the geomorphology of the terrain, and the continuous flow through caves, the GPS track had continuous coverage losses, so only the return leg has been taken into account, that is, only half of the track.
The track is recorded on the course of the Ngo Dong river ride carried out by local rowers, who do not use their hands, but their feet to grab their oars, and who do not use their arms, but their legs to propel the boats, with a skill difficult to imagine. These boats are taken at the Van Lam jetty.
During the tour we will pass through 3 different caves, which have been formed by the erosion of the river on the rocks, this means that the caves have no ground, but the river itself runs through the interior of the caves.
Hang Ca Cave
The cave Hang Ca is the first cave and the largest of the 3, with 127 meters long and an entrance of 20 meters wide and a height of 2 meters. Its ceilings are reminiscent of the surface of a desert planet.
Hang Giua Cave
The second cave (also called Hang Hai), distant 1 kilometer from Hang Ca cave. Hang Giua has a length of 70 meters and on its roofs we will find many stalactites.
Hang Cuoi Cave
The third and last cave, the Hang Cuoi cave (Hang Ba), is the smallest of the 3 with 45 meters in length.
