Itinerary description
Super easy, laid back paddle to explore the forks on the south end of Catahoula Lake. Added a short walk-about in the woods just to stretch out legs. Launch at the public boat launch in Catahoula, located on Catahoula Park Road across from Clayton Boudreaux Memorial Park. Launch now has a great, new floating dock. It is a little higher off the water than most canoe/kayak launches, but is doable when launching and/or recovering kayaks and canoes. Helps to have another person stabilize your boat.
Views of some beautiful, old Live Oak trees. You can paddle up the dead end forks and/or make the 2.5 mile loop around the island.
There is some motor boat traffic, but not much. Just be aware.
