Itinerary description
To see a side of the Sturgeon River you've likely never seen this paddle will take you from the heart of St. Albert out of the city. Without a doubt you see many people enjoying the Red Willow trails and much wildlife on the way.

This is a nice paddle, we dropped in further down though, from the rv park by the bridge at ray gibbons drive. From there it was 4 hrs at a fairly good pace with two stops. I would recommend not the entering where we did and entering downtown as suggested, though you miss some of the interesting parts at the beginning, you'll also miss some of the heavier weed growth. I ended up collecting 3 softballs from behind the baseball diamond just floating in the river and about 30 golf balls near the sturgeon valley course. Very relaxing paddle, very quiet as the river is never rough and completely silent, but it was also deceptively long. Enjoy!
Started to paddle our way up from Kiwanis Park, however weed growth was so heavy we were forced to turn around. Suspect this would be a nice rip earlier in the year.
Beautiful scenery who never get to see from road. Will do again and again
