Itinerary description

On Saturday we headed out into steel grey skies and mirror flat water to check out the town of Beaver River and the river itself as it leads to Nehasane Lake. We subsequently learned that the Powers That Be drop the reservoir level about 2 inches per day starting August 1st. Hence, water levels were down about 4 feet when we visited, leaving many channels unnavigable in a kayak.

Beaver River is a very interesting town for having only 8 permanent residents, no electrical service (diesel generators), and no road access. Nice people invited us to a beer tasting party.
