We did this paddle in early May and would recommend it as an excellent leisure paddle. The river is higher at this time of year and flows well so you can always catch a rest as you drift hoping to catch a good view of the wildlife around the next corner.
We saw lots of Mallards, Canada geese, muskrats, beavers and even saw a cow moose feeding along the river, unfortunately she spotted us and headed inland so we couldn't get a photo.
Lots of bends keep this paddle interesting, no chutes or fast water though we did find a ledge where we spent 30 min trying to paddle back up, though we couldn't quite make it it was a great change of pace.
This would be an excellent paddle to do as the season changes, enjoy.
