Itinerary description
DeClouet - Breaux Bridge
Temps started below 70 degrees on a bright and dang near perfect clear morning with no noticeable wind.
We begin at the newest Teche Project canoe / kayak launch which has been installed behind Poche's Market & Restaurant in Poche Bridge. This is the final of 15 launches to installed by The Teche Project.
Two floating cajun music boats, one leading and one real band on the sweep. A bunch of crazy costumes and boats. All kinds of recreational kayaks. People watching was a focal point as well, we be some crazy peoples sometimes. Water current was measured at 0.75 mph an overall trip speed of 2.2 which equates to a neck breaking paddle speed of...1.45 mph.
A real zydeco band, shout out to the lead guitarist, awaited our arrival at the Parc des Ponts Breaux in Breaux Bridge, white some continued southward 2 or so more miles down to Lil's lounge. Landed our boats at the concrete ramp and the undesirable muddy side wing in rising mid 80's temperatures with low wind. Racked our vessels then enjoyed the the food, adult beverages, t-shirts and listened to Corey Ledet and His Zydeco Band.
All this in less than 2 hours total paddle time by 11 people within our group.
