Itinerary description
Beautiful 300 km trip from Olbia to Cagliari. Two key sections which require good weather conditions:
a. the 40 km cliff line between Cala Gonone and Arbatrax: You will need 2 days of calm weather with a max of 3 beaufort. Be careful with onshore winds - constant wind will press the water and waves on shore, which makes landing extremely difficult and will flood the small strips of sand.
b. Capo Carbonara, which is extremely exposed. After passing this cape, also wind direction changed, and we experienced a strong increase of wind strenght from 2-3 to 4-5 Beaufort. This happens often after passing a cape!
It is recommended to have at least 1 Beaufort unit as buffer: If you start with a 4, be prepared for a 5-6.
