Itinerary description
This kayak trip starts from the old harbour of Fira, reached by the cable car and will take you to one of the most spectacular places in the Mediterranean: the new-born volcano of Nea Kameni. As some of you may know, current Santorini represents the scattered remnants of a volcano that exploded around 1600 BC. Though the island was spared a follow-up to this catastrophic event, volcanic activity never ceased. And over the past few centuries, a new volcano emerged from the ocean: Nea Kameni. Regularly erupting and always smoldering and fuming, this volcanic wasteland almost feels like an alien planet. Hence, this easy 45 minute paddling trip is one of the most rewarding trips on Santorini.

Hi! Thank you for posting this information! I was wondering where you rented your kayak from? As I have not been able to find a place in Fira.
