Free man, you will always cherish the sea (Charles Baudelaire)
Clockwise circunavigation of this wonderful archipelago, Party alone from the small port of Merag ON 10 JULY I have joined two journeys of Tatiana Capucci and Eko. The circumnavigation ended on 19 July, the longest stage, 50 km., Valun, Cres, Beli. One day I was stopped by the bora in Osor. Perhaps the most beautiful and strange experience was the landing in the Canidole islands, islands now depopulated: 4 inhabitants in winter, the others emigrated to the United States. The island of Unie presents, in a limestone universe, a layer of sand, a geological memory of the last glaciations of the Quaternary, when the river Po flowed very close to the Croatian coast. The long eastern cliff of Cres is very interesting, where I saw a dozen griffins.
Many small coves, calm, isolated and wild, allow a safe nautical camping. Campsites and rare fishing villages allow a safe supply of water.
I conclude with an aphorism by Joseph Conrad "The sea has never been a friend of man, but at most it has been an accomplice of his restlessness" ...
