Itinerary description

Capri Paddlecraft Park is a Collier County-run facility with lots of parking (maybe room for 50 cars), restrooms, picnic shelters, sidewalks, and a protected, easy launch into a shallow bay. There's a $4.00 launch fee for paddlecraft payable by credit card at a machine. If you launch in the dark, bring a flashlight. The pay system is not customer friendly.

The west end of the bay connects to a series of mangrove islands through many possible routes. This particular route heads west, then north through a series of channels and bays. It's a leisurely paddle if you don't get lost. (Don't get lost!) There was a large bald eagle's nest at the northern end of the northernmost lake but the whole nest was gone this time.

This is an accessible area, and if you are not paying attention, it is easy to get misoriented without a GPS track or a laminated aerial.

We rated this trip as moderate because winding your way through the mamgrove islands, even with a GPS, requires you to pay attention and you'll have to pay attention to tides as well because some of the areas get very shallow.

On our way back we saw quite a few tour groups going out and the parking lot was filling up.
P.S. I refer to Addison Bay a few times in the videos - it's actully McIlvane Bay. Mea culpa.
