Itinerary description

NWR Canoe Trail launch is about 4.6 miles [past the SR92 intersection on the south side of US-41 just after the bridge. Pull off to the right just past the guardrail and back up to the ramp. The launch is sand and gravel, shallow and easy.

When you reach the first marker start looking for the cut to the east (left) away from the main marked trail. This is an unmarked trail and there are a few places where you can make a wrong turn, so pay attention to the track, but most of the trail is obvious. You'll go through lakes, marshes, and tunnels and how far you make it depends on water level.

The marshes at the end are the feeding ground of a large variety of birds.
