Itinerary description
This is the north end of the Little Platte arm of Smithville Lake. The river flows past Plattsburg, just 5 miles upstream from the lake. Due to wind gusts coming one direction, then the other, we weren't able to float very far. There were plenty of seagulls and shorebirds to observe. The water level was low and being muddy, we weren't able to avoid several underwater limbs rubbing the bottom of our kayaks to our surprise. Many normally submerged tree trunks stood above the waterline 2 feet or so.
