Itinerary description
Starting in Lefaivre but you could start in Fassett, if you're on the Quebec side of the river, and heading up the Salmon river. Crossing the Ottawa river here can be tricky on a busy day but it's well worth it for this trip. The Riviere Saumon twists and turns northward. It is not passable after the first couple of kilometers in any boat larger than a kayak or canoe. At this time of year (July) the river get too shallow to navigate after a while even in a kayak. You are treated to solitude, herons, various fish, beavers, many birds. Great places to stop and swim in crystal clear water.
