Itinerary description
Eleven paddlers started out in mid 80 temps at 8:30 am with a just noticeable wind that was embraced. Paddled from the Kayak landing around to the north boat ramp all in the direct sun. That short time spam demonstrated the heat of our August morning sun capabilities.
We crossed the LDWF (Inland Fishes) northern vegetation boom with permission (not needed) and proceeded to follow the west bank. Water appeared 18-24 below normal based upon the tree trunk markings. Surprisingly the breeze followed us deep into the 'water woods'. We stopped at the most northern point and took in the moment. The air was slightly moving and was very nice and 'not hot'.
Proceeded to head back to the starting point via the most easterly route. Enjoyed the pretty vegetation and more importantly the company and conversations.
Overall a very enjoyable and relatively 'cool' paddle in the middle of the hot South Louisiana August weather. Temps were mid 90's at 11:45 am pull out.
